With new thresholds being reached by the knowledge economy society, in order to strengthen corporate competitiveness, it has become essential to create new knowledge and to effectively use knowledge inside and outside the corporate organization. While utilizing technologies such as IT, it is important to configure business space that stimulates high intellectual productivity by creating new work styles.

Focus

There are four points when it comes to thinking about new business space: (1) Knowledge productivity (efficiency of knowledge creation), (2) total security (security that integrates the physical and the cyber aspects), (3) networking (links with organizations inside and outside the company), and (4) visibility of management.

Applying the results of this research to its own offices, Hitachi Research Institute constructed a new knowledge creation space, called Knowledge Work Square, in April 2006 for its offices in the Akihabara UDX Building. Utilizing the outcome, we offer the know-how for construction of Knowledge Work Square to companies involved in the knowledge creation business.
