Sachiyo Aburatani,
Director of Bioproduction Research Institute,
National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology
Governments around the world, including Japan, have recently been formulating and revising national strategies on the bioeconomy to promote the development of the bio-related sector. This article focuses on bio-manufacturing, which is central to achieving biotechnological transformation (BX), and explains the necessity of integrating biotechnology with digital technology, as well as strategies for realizing this integration.
Masakazu Hattori
(Ph.D., D.V.M.), Professor,
Laboratory of Tumor Tissue Response, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University
In a super-aging society, extending healthy life expectancy becomes a crucial issue. It has been shown that the onset of age-related diseases and autoimmune diseases is influenced by age-related changes in the composition of immune cells. This article discusses the potential for extending healthy life expectancy by detecting and controlling of unique T cell populations (Senescence-Associated T cells) that increase with age.
